## About

Montalbera is a family estate in Castagnole Monferrato, run by the Morando family. The farm began in the early twentieth century between Grana, Castagnole Monferrato and Montemagno, and from the mid-1980s the Morandos bought neighbouring land and planted new vines, mostly Ruchè. Today more than 100 hectares of owned vineyards form a ring of hills around the cellar, with a second site at Castiglione Tinella in the Langhe, where the family's roots lie and Moscato d'Asti grows. The estate says about 60 percent of the Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato denomination comes from its vines, alongside Barbera d'Asti, Grignolino, Monferrato Nebbiolo and Viognier. Castagnole Monferrato is the home of Ruchè, a rare aromatic red grown in the hills near Asti.
