## About

Marenco has been a family estate in Strevi, in Piedmont's Alto Monferrato, since 1925, when Michele Marenco planted his first vines in the Valle Bagnario. His son Giuseppe built the cellar in Strevi's Borgo Alto in 1956, and since the early 2000s the estate has been run by his three granddaughters, Michela, Doretta and Patrizia, with Michela's son Andrea Costa joining in 2014. The family farms 70 hectares across Strevi and the Barbera country around Fontanile and Castel Boglione, near Nizza, growing only indigenous varieties on its own land, several of them organically certified. Moscato and Brachetto from Strevi and Barbera from the Nizza side anchor the range, alongside Carialoso, a rare native white grape the family helped rescue from near extinction, and Albarossa, planted here in 2001 among the first such vineyards in Piedmont. Strevi's white marl soils and closeness to the Ligurian Apennines have long favoured Moscato, while Fontanile and Castel Boglione have been Barbera ground for centuries.
