## About

Giovanni Almondo is a family estate in Montà, in the Roero hills of Piedmont. The Almondo family has been recorded in Montà's civic registry since the 1300s and has always lived in the Vittori hamlet, today at the centre of its Arneis vineyards. Domenico Almondo turned the family's mixed farm toward quality winemaking in 1980, and the estate now farms 23 hectares, worked by the fourth generation, Stefano and Federico. Arneis grows on the sandy, higher north side of Montà, Nebbiolo on the clay and limestone south side, giving site-specific bottlings such as Bricco delle Ciliegie, its single-parcel selection Le Rive, and Bric Valdiana, the only Almondo wine to carry a named vineyard on its label. Several wines, including the Vigne Sparse and Bricco delle Ciliegie Arneis, are certified organic. Roero sits on the left bank of the Tanaro, across from the Langhe, on sandy soils left by an ancient sea, within easy reach of Alba.

## Wines (10)

- [Bric Valdiana](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-bric-valdiana.md): Roero DOCG, Nebbiolo (Michet, Lampia), Red. The estate's only wine to name its vineyard (an MGA) on the label: Bric Valdiana, a mainly sandy site in the southern part of Montà d'Alba whose traditional ciabot has sea shells set into its stone…
- [Bricco Delle Ciliegie](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-bricco-delle-ciliegie.md): Roero Arneis DOCG, Arneis, White. Sourced from the estate's highest, sandiest Arneis vineyard, on a hill the Almondo family has farmed since the 1300s. Certified organic (IT-BIO-015, Agricoltura Italia).
- [Fosso della Rosa](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-fosso-della-rosa.md): Mosto Parzialmente Fermentato di Uve Aromatiche, Sweet. A partially fermented aromatic-grape must (5% alcohol) rather than a classified DOCG/DOC wine, sold under the Fosso della Rosa name.
- [Langhe Freisa](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-langhe-freisa.md): Langhe Freisa DOC, Freisa, Red. Despite its Langhe DOC, this Freisa is grown entirely in Roero, from 80-year-old vines, and made lighter and more floral than its cousins across the Tanaro through carbonic maceration. Certified…
- [Langhe Nebbiolo](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-langhe-nebbiolo.md): Langhe DOC Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo (Lampia), Red. Labelled Langhe Nebbiolo but made in the traditional style of Roero's own "Nebbiolino": a light, versatile red from the estate's youngest Nebbiolo vines. Certified organic (IT-BIO-015, Agricoltura…
- [Le Rive Del Bricco Delle Ciliegie](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-le-rive-del-bricco-delle-ciliegie.md): Roero Arneis DOCG, Arneis, White. A single-parcel Arneis from a steep, clay-and-limestone plot of the Bricco delle Ciliegie hill, separated from the estate's other Arneis for its exceptional mineral depth and ageing potential.
- [Roero](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-roero.md): Roero DOCG, Nebbiolo (Lampia, Michet, Picotendro), Red. The estate's classic Roero, in the traditional style of Barolo and Barbaresco: a blend of three Montà d'Alba vineyards aged in large cask.
- [Sassi e Sabbia](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-sassi-e-sabbia.md): Langhe Riesling DOC, Riesling, White. Riesling clones brought from Alsace and Mosel by Domenico Almondo at the end of the 1980s, planted on a stony, sandy plot at 360 m, the grape's southernmost planting for the family. Certified…
- [Valbianchéra](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-valbianchera.md): Barbera d'Alba DOC, Barbera, Red. Barbera from the family's oldest vines, first planted in the early 1900s; Stefano and Federico Almondo are the fourth generation to work this plot.
- [Vigne Sparse](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giovanni-almondo-vigne-sparse.md): Roero Arneis DOCG, Arneis, White. The estate's purest expression of Arneis, blended from several vineyards across the sandy, high-elevation Montà d'Alba area and raised only in steel. Certified organic (IT-BIO-015, Agricoltura…
