## About

Fabrizio Battaglino runs this family cellar in Vezza d'Alba in its third generation. His grandfather Riccardo began bottling under his own name in the early 1960s, one of the area's first small growers to do so, and his father Mario carried the estate on before Fabrizio took over. The family farms five hectares on the Colla and Bastia hills, worked entirely by hand, growing Nebbiolo, Barbera and Arneis for Roero DOCG, Roero Arneis DOCG, Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC and Barbera d'Alba DOC. The Colla vineyard produced the first Roero DOCG ever bottled, in 2005, and Fabrizio still ages his reds and his Riserva Arneis in barrique. He works without herbicides and keeps other treatments to a minimum, and the cellar runs on solar power. Roero sits on the left bank of the Tanaro, across from the Langhe, on sandy, marine-origin soils that mark its wines, and Vezza d'Alba is a short drive from Alba.
