## About

Chionetti has farmed vines at San Luigi, a hamlet of Dogliani in the southwestern Langhe, since Giuseppe Chionetti bought the family's first vineyard there in 1912. Five generations on, Nicola Chionetti runs the estate, having taken over from his grandfather Quinto in 2013 with his mother Maria, who joined in 1999 and helped open the winery to international markets. The family farms its vineyards organically.

Dolcetto di Dogliani is the house specialty, bottled separately from three sites within the San Luigi cru: San Luigi, Briccolero and the higher, later-picked La Costa. The estate also makes a Barbera d'Alba from the San Sebastiano vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, a Langhe Nebbiolo from lower San Luigi vines, and, since 2019, a Riesling grown at 600 meters in the Alta Langa. In 2015 the family began vinifying three vineyards acquired in the Barolo zone, in Castiglione Falletto, La Morra and the Bussia cru, as three separate Barolos.

## Visits & tastings

A visit to Chionetti runs Monday to Friday by appointment, with Saturdays reserved for pre-booked visits only. Expect a walk up through the San Luigi vineyard, a look at the barrels and tanks in the cellar, and family stories from five generations of winemaking, between Dogliani and Barolo.
