## About

Castello di Tassarolo is a family winery in Tassarolo, in the Gavi zone of the province of Alessandria, run by a branch of the Spinola family. The castle at the heart of the old Spinola lands gives the estate its name, and the family moved from farming a large estate to making wine in the mid-1970s. Biodynamic farming began in 2006. Eighteen hectares of vines surround the cellar, planted with Cortese di Gavi, Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the wines are certified organic and vegan. Alongside classic Gavi, the cellar makes wines with no added sulphites, an amphora-aged orange wine and a pet nat. Cellar master Miri Velli works with oenologist Vincenzo Munì, and Comtois workhorses help in the vineyard, the woods and the vegetable garden.
