## About

Castellari Bergaglio is a family estate in Rovereto, a hillside hamlet of Gavi in the Alessandria province, farming vineyards on two sites: Rovereto di Gavi and, across the way, Capriata d'Orba, both within reach of sea breezes drifting up from nearby Liguria. The Bergaglio family has grown grapes here since the late 1800s, and the brand today also carries on the winemaking history of La Polastra, a second family estate with roots going back five centuries. Winemaker Marco Bergaglio and president Claudio Andrea Gemme run an estate of about 15 hectares, planted entirely to Cortese. The range spans the everyday Salluvii and Rolona, Rovereto Vignavecchia from vines over 80 years old, the barrique aged Pilin, two sparkling wines, Ardè and Brutmabon, and Gavium, a passito made from grapes dried into January. Gavi DOCG, the white appellation built on Cortese, sits at the southeastern edge of Piemonte, its hills the last before Liguria begins.
