## About

Cascina Galarin is a family estate in Castagnole delle Lanze, in the hill country between the Langhe and Monferrato, where the Carosso family has grown vines since 1781. Giuseppe Carosso took charge in the late 1980s, moving the estate from selling wine in bulk to bottling its own and farming the vineyards more carefully; his sons Marco and Giovanni now work alongside him. The estate has been certified organic since its 2016 vintage, growing vines without herbicides or pesticides and letting grass grow between some rows. Alongside Piedmontese staples Barbera, Moscato, Nebbiolo and Freisa, the family also grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, bottling single-vineyard wines from home ground in Castagnole delle Lanze as well as Monforte d'Alba and Guarene. Barbera and Moscato, two of the region's best-known grapes, both have appellations centred on the hills around Asti, the wine town closest to the estate.
