## About

A historic estate built in 1680 in the Villa quarter of Isola d'Asti, a hilltop enclave that local history links to the Napoleonic occupation. For generations the house was home to the town's mayoral family. Today it is a family home and working vineyard on five hectares, three of them planted with old Barbera vines sheltered from harsh winds. The low-yielding vines go into a single wine, the Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG "La Vita è Bella", made in partnership with winemaker Giovanni Scaglione in runs of around 300 bottles. The first vintage was 2021, followed by 2022 and 2023. Beneath the main house lies the old cellar, linked to the vineyard by tunnels that once let workers carry the harvest straight from the vines to the cellar without going above ground. It is currently being restored as a tasting and storage space.

Casa La Bella Vita is a private holiday villa as well as a vineyard, so the best way to taste the estate's Barbera is to stay. There are no public tastings or tours for now.
