## About

Ca' del Prete is a family farm in Pino d'Asti, in the hills of the Asti province, named for the farmhouse that once belonged to the old parish house above it. Four generations of Ferreros have made wine here. Giorgio Ferrero took over in 1986, moved the whole production to certified organic farming and began selling under the Ca' del Prete name. His grandson Luca has run the estate since 2014. About four hectares are planted, mostly to Freisa with plots of Malvasia and Barbera. The vines grow with permanent grass cover, green manure or well-rotted manure, and a reduced copper programme with zeolite. Luca calls the wines artisanal: native yeasts, little technology, no fining, and a small sulphur addition only at bottling. The range is two Freisa d'Asti, a Barbera d'Asti and a rosé, all closed with screw caps. Freisa has long been grown on these fossil-rich limestone and sand soils.
