## About

Francesco Rosso has run his family's farm in Santo Stefano Roero since 2001, and in 2012 he bottled the first wines under his own name. The trigger was his grandfather Francesco, born in 1898, whose handwritten notebook on making "a good Nebbiolo" is still kept in the cellar; after years in which the family grew vegetables, Francesco replanted abandoned vineyards and went back to wine. He runs it with his wife Maria, with their children Alex and Giulia helping.

There are 3.5 hectares of vines, farmed with integrated pest management rather than organic certification, giving about 15,000 bottles a year from estate grapes only. The range covers the Roero classics: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Arneis, plus a rosato and an Arneis passito, with most reds aged in French oak barrique or tonneau. Francesco is a FIVI member. The village sits at about 400 metres on top of the Roero rocche, on the north side of the Tanaro across from Alba.
