## About

Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo works 35 hectares of vines around Ghemme and Romagnano Sesia, in the Novara hills of Alto Piemonte, where the Alps and the Monte Rosa massif meet the flat rice country of the Po plain. The estate began with a single wine, Ghemme, the first made by the young company from the 1974 vintage and bottled under the Cantalupo name since the 2006 vintage. Over some 45 years the vineyards were added piece by piece on the moraine hills. Alberto Arlunno, trained in agronomy with a specialisation in viticulture and oenology, has led the estate since 1981. Below the vineyard slope, a brick building with a long portico hides a fully underground ageing cellar of 1,200 square metres that steps up with the hill, with a dark infernotto where the Ghemme rests in bottle.

## Visits & tastings

The winery on the edge of Ghemme is open to visitors and wine lovers. It publishes no tasting menu, prices or hours, so call before you go.
