Sulin itself is younger: in the 2000s Mauro and Fabio Fracchia pooled all of the family's vineyards into one estate that only grows, makes and sells its own wine, with an eye on export markets. The name is dialect for "sunny", a nod to vineyards on south-facing hilltops and slopes in Grazzano Badoglio and Ottiglio. Each plot carries the name of someone close to the family, from Adriano and Ornella to Giovanni and Provino, and the soils are calcareous.
