# Tre Bicchieri 2027: Piemonte's Winners, from Barolo to Alta Langa

_Gambero Rosso's new guide rewards more than 80 Piemonte wines, with Barbera, Alta Langa and the Roero gaining ground on Nebbiolo._

> Il Vino Bello, 2026-10-16. Il Vino Bello editorial (https://ilvinobello.com/editorial/tre-bicchieri-2027-piemontes-winners-from-barolo-to-alta-langa).

Gambero Rosso has published its Piemonte list for Vini d'Italia 2027: more than 80 wines awarded Tre Bicchieri, the guide's highest mark. The list went live on 16 October, ahead of the guide's official launch in Rome on 25 October, the year Gambero Rosso and its wine guide both turn forty. We have added the award to every winning wine on Il Vino Bello, so you can spot them while you browse.

## Fresher, lighter on its feet

The editors' regional introduction has a clear message: the season of concentration at all costs is over. In our reading of the Italian text, they describe Barolo and Barbaresco with more finely chiselled tannins, measured extraction and a drinkability that gives nothing away in depth or ageing potential. They also argue that Piemonte can no longer be told only through Nebbiolo and the Langhe, because grapes and districts long kept on the margins are winning space.

That shows in the numbers. Barolo still leads with 22 wines and Barbaresco follows with 12, but Barbera has 9, the Roero 7, and Alto Piemonte 6.

## Barolo and Barbaresco

The famous names are here. Barolo honours include Giacomo Conterno's [Cerretta](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giacomo-conterno-cerretta), Bruno Giacosa's [Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/bruno-giacosa-falletto-vigna-le-rocche-riserva), Giuseppe Rinaldi's [Tre Tine](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giuseppe-rinaldi-barolo-tre-tine), Vietti's [Lazzarito](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/vietti-lazzarito) and the classic [Barolo](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/pio-cesare-barolo) from Pio Cesare, mostly from the 2022 vintage. Elio Altare's [Arborina](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/elio-altare-arborina) and Domenico Clerico's [Ciabot Mentin](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/domenico-clerico-ciabot-mentin) repeat their result from last year's guide.

Barbaresco is led by 2023s, among them Gaja's [Costa Russi](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/gaja-costa-russi), Ceretto's [Gallina](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/ceretto-gallina) and Sottimano's [Fausoni](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/sottimano-fausoni). The cooperative Produttori del Barbaresco wins with its [Pajè Riserva](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/produttori-del-barbaresco-paje-riserva) 2021, and [Ca' del Baio](https://ilvinobello.com/wineries/ca-del-baio) with [Pora](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/ca-del-baio-pora) 2022.

## Barbera's comeback, and Nizza

The editors write that Barbera seems back in tune with modern taste: serious without being austere, rich without weight, and very good at the table. The proof is a strong showing from Asti and the Monferrato: Coppo's [L'Avvocata](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/coppo-l-avvocata), Scarpa's [La Bogliona](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/antica-casa-vinicola-scarpa-barbera-d-asti-sup-la-bogliona), the [Vigne Vecchie](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/vinchio-vaglio-vigne-vecchie) of the Vinchio Vaglio cooperative, Tacchino's [Albarola](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/tacchino-barbera-del-m-to-albarola) and Vicara's [Cantico della Crosia](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/vicara-barbera-del-m-to-sup-cantico-della-crosia).

The story the guide singles out is [Castello di Uviglie](https://ilvinobello.com/wineries/castello-di-uviglie), which wins its first Tre Bicchieri with the Barbera del Monferrato Superiore [Bruno Bonzano](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/castello-di-uviglie-bruno-bonzano) 2021, the same year it was named the guide's Young Producers of the Year.

Nizza, which the editors say now has a precise identity of deep, complex wines that keep their energy, places three: Michele Chiarlo's [Montemareto](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/michele-chiarlo-montemareto) 2023, Bersano's [Cremosina](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/bersano-cremosina) 2023 and the [San Luigi](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/fratelli-aresca-san-luigi) 2022 from Aresca. Chiarlo told its customers this is the third Tre Bicchieri for its Nizza wines in four years.

## Bubbles, whites and the outsiders

The guide calls Alta Langa perhaps the clearest picture of modern Piemonte, a sparkling wine moving from category to territory. Four win: Cocchi's [Bianc 'd Bianc](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/cocchi-bianc-d-bianc), Bera's [Blanc de Blancs](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/bera-alta-langa-blanc-de-blancs), Marcalberto's [Caterina Rivella](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/marcalberto-caterina-rivella) Riserva and Vite Colte's [Seicento](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/vite-colte-seicento).

Among the whites, Roero Arneis has five, including Angelo Negro's [Sette Anni](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/angelo-negro-roero-arneis-sette-anni) and Monchiero Carbone's [Renesio Incisa](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/monchiero-carbone-renesio-incisa), both back from last year. Gavi has four, with La Toledana's [Vigne Rade](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/la-toledana-vigne-rade) and Nicola Bergaglio's [Minaia](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/nicola-bergaglio-gavi-del-comune-di-gavi-minaia) repeating. Timorasso, which the editors see entering a delicate maturity as plantings grow, has three, among them Giacomo Boveri's [Lacrime del Bricco](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/giacomo-boveri-colli-tortonesi-timorasso-lacrime-del-bricco). Erbaluce di Caluso gets two, from Benito Favaro's [Le Chiusure](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/benito-favaro-le-chiusure) and Orsolani's [La Rustìa](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/orsolani-la-rustia).

In Alto Piemonte, look for Antoniolo's Gattinara [Osso San Grato](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/antoniolo-gattinara-osso-san-grato-ris), Davide Carlone's [Boca](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/davide-carlone-boca) and the Ossola Nebbiolo [Prünent Vigna Fornace](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/cantine-garrone-prunent-vigna-fornace) from Cantine Garrone. Grignolino keeps its good run with Tenuta Santa Caterina's [Monferace](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/tenuta-santa-caterina-monferace), and Dolcetto, praised for juicier, less extracted wines in Dogliani and Diano d'Alba, has three, including San Fereolo's [Vigne Dolci](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/san-fereolo-vigne-dolci).

## The rarest bottles

Before the list, the guide also named 50 Vini Rari, wines it rates as high as its best Tre Bicchieri but made in tiny quantities or from unusual projects. Five are from Piemonte: Roagna's [Asili Vecchie Viti](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/roagna-asili-vecchie-viti) 2020 (1,169 bottles), Poderi Marcarini's pre-phylloxera Dolcetto [Boschi di Berri Pre-fillossera](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/poderi-marcarini-boschi-di-berri-pre-fillossera), Enrico Serafino's Alta Langa [Zero 140](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/enrico-serafino-zero-140) Riserva 2013, Vigne Marina Coppi's Timorasso [Grand Fostò](https://ilvinobello.com/wines/vigne-marina-coppi-grand-fosto) Riserva 2021 and [Vigneti Massa](https://ilvinobello.com/wineries/vigneti-massa)'s Derthona Specchio del Sole 2022.

If you want to taste the winners, Gambero Rosso holds its Tre Bicchieri tasting in Rome on 25 October at the La Nuvola convention centre, from 4pm to 8pm. Here on Il Vino Bello, every winning bottle on our site now carries its award, with a link to the wine's page in the guide.
